Captain Robin L. Pilcher was a hero in more ways than one. He not only served his fellowmen as a firefighter/paramedic for Unified Fire Authority of Greater Salt Lake, but also spent countless hours serving his neighbors and friends.
Like many around the world September 11th, 2001 was a day our family will never forget. Because of his position as a logistic specialist for Utah Task Force One, Robin was deployed to Ground Zero soon after the attacks. Robin wanted desperately to be a tool in the Lord’s hand and prayed for the opportunity to bring strength to others in this difficult time.
Unbeknownst to us, this selfless desire to help others would lead to an incurable pancreatic cancer resulting from his exposure to harmful chemicals at Ground Zero. He was diagnosed in June of 2015, and returned to our Heavenly Father April 20, 2016 – after his last courageous battle.
The world lost an incredible man that day, and we miss him terribly. We find strength in knowing that families are forever and that we will see him again. This blog is a way for us to honor his memory, relieve other’s burdens through shared experiences, bring awareness to this issue, and share our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – which has ultimately lifted our burden and given us hope for the future.
